Good ole Mississippi snow....

On Feb 9th & 10th we got the best snow ever that I can remember, well at least here at my house. We had a good 4 or 5 inches of the white stuff. It was beautiful! So, how could I resist taking pictures of it? I couldn't! And thankfully, I was off work those 2 days and really got to enjoy it.
These pictures aren't the best because they were taken with my smaller, not as nice digital camera. But the scenery is beautiful just the same! :-)

So, here I am, finally posting a new blog post. WOW, so much has happened since the last post! I graduated nursing school! I take NCLEX on June 10, So with that said, I am returning to LIFE as we once knew it and it is great! I am ready to get "the test" out of my way, so I can enjoy sitting down and reading a book or magazine once again...

Enough about me, lets get to some PHOTOGRAPHY!!! I finally got to meet my best friend's newest family addition, and got some pretty great photos of her! And a couple of her 1st born :) See my next blog post for the photos!

Light of the World

"This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all." 1 John 1:5 (NAS)

Devotion:

Everywhere I look this time of year, I see lights: flashy lights adorning the mall and streets, the steady glow of candlelight during our Christmas Eve service, and the dazzling lights of outside decorations. Of all the lights at Christmas, however, I am most drawn to the white, twinkly lights on our Christmas tree.

A tradition I've enjoyed for years is to sit in my favorite chair in the darkened living room with only the illumination of the Christmas trees lights. I let the trees' lights remind me of the brightest light of all, Jesus Christ.

The Bible includes numerous references to light. As you read these verses, think about how Christ has been a light this past year, or think about what kind of light you need this Christmas season. Let Christ's light chase away any darkness as you bathe in the splendor of His light.

As the creator of light, allow God to create light in your life. (Genesis 1:3)

When you are fearful, let His light make you brave. (Psalm 27:1)

If you need direction, His light will show you the way. (Psalm 119:105)

When you are in a difficult situation, God's light makes the rough places smooth. (Isaiah 42:16)

Do you feel ashamed or guilty? Accept Christ's light of forgiveness. (John 3:19)

Chase away the darkness of hopelessness, loneliness, despair, aimlessness,

confusion, hurt, or anger as you follow Christ, the Light of life. (John 8:12)

Be a witness to Christ's light by the way you live your life. (Matthew 5:16)

Dear Lord, Thank You for Your Light. Renew my hope, joy, and trust in You, as all the Christmas lights remind me that You are the Light of the world. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Governor's Cup 5K

I love downtown Jackson, especially the area surrounding the Governor's mansion and old capitol. Those old buildings with their unique architecture, the brick streets and sidewalks, and the live oak trees, you couldn't ask for a more picturesque place. Since I'm currently out of our 5K races because of my foot injury, I went with momma to the Governor's cup race to capture some images of the race and downtown a bit. I didn't get any of the race, because my camera battery died, but I was able to find a plug to charge it and get a little juice to take a few pictures downtown =) Enjoy!

What a WONDERFULLY FUN day this was! BIG thanks to Erin Fults for getting this workshop together. And thanks to Lindsey for helping her with the abundance of food we had to munch on all day! :) And of course we can't forget the object of our photos Angela Ewing, she made some pretty awesome shots! I met some great people, and hope we can all keep in touch and even get together for a "group" shoot one day!

The Rainbow

Not my best photos, but I love rainbows and the meaning of the rainbow. Every time I see a rainbow, I am reminded not only of the promise God made to Noah and the creatures of the earth, I am reminded of God's promises to me, His own personal promises to ME--A being that by far doesn't deserve them in any way, but by the AMAZING GRACE of God, those promises will not be broken!!! What a blessing to have a reminder of that in my own back yard! I couldn't resist the opportunity to photograph that promise!!

And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
